If a co-worker or a friend introduced you to some Filipino food, then you're probably wondering where you could get some more and try out more of those dishes from the islands in the Pacific.
Well, in the Virginia Beach area, Ihaw Ihaw Filipino Cuisine is your destination of delicious flavor located on Lynnhaven Pkwy.
This place is spacious inside with a hint of bamboo decoration in the back, but the most important thing about this casual dining spot is the food.
Variety of Filipino dishes are served here, and the staff switch it up from time to time.
Today, I had a chicken stick, the chicken pancit, pork sinigang and pork belly. The chicken stick is tender with that hint of that charred flavor. The chicken pancit had a nice well-seasoned texture of noodles and mixed vegetables, the pork sinigang soup had a good mixture of boiled vegetables and tender fatty pork with a hint of sourness mixed with an, overall, savory flavor. However, the pork belly was not only tender and fatty, but it had that smokey hint of flavor and was really delicious! Highly recommended!
The two dishes that people might need a warning on are Balut (which is a fertilized duck egg) and Filipino Chocolate Meat (Dinuguan) which is made out of pig's blood. I personally did not try those!
But overall, this is a great place to start your Filipino food journey or to continue on with the road paved with delicious flavor of the islands!
