Ever wanted food that doesn't taste artificial? Well, Jesse's Place is where you want to be!

It looks deceivingly small from the outside, but as soon as you walk in, a large New York theme area welcomes you to try their food complete with cushion sitting booths and round tables and chairs and a diner bar.

Sitting down, you will see hints of New York along with nostalgic pictures of celebrities; perhaps, placed there to give you a nostalgic diner vibe.

The meal I ordered was a grilled pork chop with mashed potatoes and gravy. It was well seasoned with the salty flavor not overbearing. It had a good balance of pronounced flavor making sure it wasn’t bland. The pork chop was not dry, in fact, it was quite savory. It would remind you how your mom would’ve prepared pork chops when you were a child.

The mashed potatoes were smooth and covered with tasty gravy as it should be. It complemented the pork chop well.

Now, a strong highlight was the shrimp chowder. It was not bland either. It was quite good! With chunks of potato, corn, and shrimp, this entree had a kick to it, but it wasn’t spicy. I would try this dish again!

If you’re looking for a place with real food and a New York vibe in Norfolk, VA, then give this place a shot!
